Hard to believe it’s time to think of 2018! At VTLA’s banquet as part of the Convention each year, we pause to honor legal giants and now is the time we seek nominations for those awards.

Please review these award announcements and information and take a moment to nominate a legal giant in your world. Nominations are due Friday, September 1.

Distinguished Service Award
The DSA recognizes and honors individuals whose commitment to the law and the right to trial by jury has advanced the cause of justice for the citizens of this Commonwealth. More info

Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is one of the highest honors bestowed infrequently by VTLA. It recognizes a lawyer in practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia for more than 25 years who has exercised effective leadership within VTLA and who has demonstrated lifelong dedication to VTLA’s mission and principles. Oliver White Hill Courageous Advocate
This award may periodically be presented to an advocate who has demonstrated courage and commitment to the ideals of justice in representing an individual or cause at considerable personal risk. Such representation may be on behalf of unpopular individuals or causes; may be provided with minimal or no compensation; and shall have been undertaken without regard for the impact of such advocacy on his/her own practice or reputation.
